IT HELPDESK
Job Description
- The IT System and Support Engineer will be responsible for providing frontline technical support to Network Operation Centre. This includes installing software, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC and telecommunication hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.
- Required to work closely with senior telecommunication and senior systems engineers to assist them with server and switch management, capacity planning, security administration, sizing, monitoring, tuning, backup and recovery for all network systems. Trainings will be provided in systems deployed in network.
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop and telecom problems for end-users. Recommend to implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair for remote users as needed.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of all monitors, PCs, fax machines, software, and other components; ensure databases are kept current and software licensing is compliant.
- Perform all desktop related tasks associated with the new hire and termination process. This includes PC builds and installations, telecom installation and configuration related tasks.
- Work with the Systems engineer to assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PC machines, including the installation of memory, hard-drives, processors, and other related components.
- Develop end-user training materials and provide formal and informal training regarding hardware, office software, and security.
- Accurately document and track trouble tickets and manage the hardware repair and maintenance process with third parties.
- Assist IT management with the development of IT processes, procedures and controls.
- Preparation of weekly progressive and technical reports
Requirements
- Above two (2) years of experience in IT/Telecommunication industry, preferably experience in system or DCN operation.
- A qualified candidate must have work experience supporting Windows 2000, Windows XP, MS Office applications, and Citrix client software.
- Qualified candidate to have experience installing server/router equipment and maintaining all cross connects and switch configuration. Experience working with Active Directory, Exchange, SMS, Veritas backup software, VPN client
- technology, AVAYA PBX administration, and VoIP technology is a added advantage
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field, or equivalent technical support experience.
- Two (2) to four (4) years experience providing desktop and telecom support.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and project
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
